About Judith Key:
Judith established her North Norfolk Studio in 1987, exhibiting landscape and marine paintings of East Anglia. She works out of doors in all seasons, observing the ever- changing play of light on landscape. She paints on site when practical, and walks regularly with camera and sketchbook, gathering material for development in the studio. 'There's no replacement for direct experience - I need to taste the salt air and feel the wind on my face. To hear the piping of an oystercatcher evokes the essence of a marsh better than any photograph'. She applies the same approach to pet portraiture. 'Photographs are useful, but limited. I need to meet the animal in order to capture its character in paint'. |
