And it will soon be upon us again. I've already received my first Christmas card of the season, and I haven't even started to write mine yet. I've had a number of requests lately, among them, 'Can we have more cartoons?' and 'Do you design Christmas cards?' The answer to the first question is yes, expect to see more cartoons sprinkled through the blogs in the coming months. The answer to the second question is no, although a number of my paintings are available as greetings cards, including the banner image of 'Evening Light' on the home page, and 'Friday Market, Walsingham' and 'Beached at Blakeney', on the Prints page. Then I was reminded of a Christmas card I designed for the family some years ago, and as it ticks both boxes for cartoons and Christmas, here it is:- ~ I couldn't begin to say what breed of camel is depicted, any more than I can explain the species of myopic birds making a spectacle of themselves in the November blog. All I can say is that conjuring images of the impossible is one of the fun things about cartooning. ~ If you want to know how long the journey of the three wise men might have taken, aided by a Roman Era satnav system, here is the answer:- ~ Judging by the number of hapless drivers I've seen struggling up rough country tracks, guided by their satnavs, it's evident nothing much has changed in the two thousand years since my characters found themselves unwittingly taking 'the scenic route'... ~ It just remains for me to wish you a very happy Christmas, and if you've asked Santa Claus for a satnav, I just hope you don't get one like my three wise men have been saddled with. Let us hope that they and their HGV-sized camel make it to their destination in time for Epiphany!
